After reviewing previous studies, the researcher found that there is a disparity in the degree to which special education centers and institutions that provide their programs and services to the autism spectrum disorder category apply national and international standards. They also did not address the evaluation of the reasons that prevent early intervention centers and institutions from applying the national standards issued by the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Therefore, the study conducted by researcher and applied behavior analyst Mahmoud Al-Shiyab came to evaluate the special education programs and services provided to individuals with autism spectrum disorder in Jordan by highlighting the current reality of these programs and services in order to improve the quality of services and programs provided by these centers and institutions and their families.

The study population consisted of all governmental and private special education centers in Amman, Jordan, which were randomly selected in equal numbers, in addition to the families of students enrolled in the centers who agreed to conduct interviews or complete questionnaires designed to achieve the study’s objectives.

The most prominent result of the study was the addition of a fourth level that was not included in previous studies that addressed the same current study, which is the very low level, in anticipation of the existence of centers that apply only at least 25% of the standards. Recommendations and proposals were also presented that would raise the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and services provided to individuals with autism spectrum disorder, and increase commitment to the standards stipulated by the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by activating the role of the Supreme Council related to monitoring special education centers, helping centers to understand the importance of the standards, their objectives and mechanisms for applying them professionally and efficiently, and conducting more extensive and in-depth studies to identify the obstacles to non-application of the standards and commitment to them.
