It is a type of procedure used to identify types of stimuli as reinforcers that a person prefers, and there are two different types of preference assessments:

  • Multiple stimuli with substitution (MSW)
  • Multiple stimuli without substitution (MSWO)

This multiple-choice model allows you to identify a large number of child reinforcers in a very short period of time, and it is suitable for children who are able to choose their favorite items from a large group of items. A group of at least 5 items (food or toys) is displayed and then arranged in a hierarchy from least to most preferred.
